Garment dispensing machine and method of dispensing garments.
SECTOR OF THE TECHNIQUE
The present invention relates to a garment dispensing machine and a method of dispensing garments.
PREVIOUS STATE OF THE TECHNIQUE
Garment dispensing machines are known that are configured to dispense a garment. For example, it is known to use these types of dispensing machines in hospitals, so that hospital workers can obtain work clothes by identifying with a card. In this way, the amount of clothing dispensed to each user can be controlled.
Clothing apparel vending machines are known in which it is necessary to insert the garments into a respective plastic bag. For example, ES1073301U describes a vending machine for garments of this type. The vending machine comprises a plurality of compartments, a stack of garments inserted in a respective bag being disposed in each of said compartments. Each compartment comprises a platform that moves vertically along the compartment and an ejector device comprising a group of denticulated wheels. By rotating said denticulated wheels, the garment located at the top of the pile of garments can be removed. At the top of each compartment there is a sensor to detect that the top garment of the garment stack is in a position suitable for dispensing. The fact that the clothes are inserted in a respective plastic bag facilitates the dispensing task but has the disadvantage of having to insert each garment in a respective bag.
Clothes dispensing machines are also known in which it is not necessary

Introduce each garment in a bag. For example, ES8503152A1 discloses a towel vending machine comprising a mobile tray on which a stack of towels is arranged and an ejection mechanism comprising a system of needles, combs or sharp punches that holds and separates the upper towel from the others. . The mobile tray ascends until the towel placed on the top pushes a lever that activates a limit switch. Once the ejection mechanism holds the upper towel, said ejection mechanism ascends before horizontally moving the towel to the exit.
EXHIBITION OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is to provide a garment dispensing machine and a method of dispensing garments, as defined in the claims.
A first aspect of the invention relates to a dispensing machine comprising at least one compartment in which a stack of garments to be dispensed is arranged, said at least one compartment comprising a mobile tray on which the stack of garments is disposed and that is adapted to move vertically. The dispensing machine also comprises extraction means arranged on the mobile tray adapted to extract the garment arranged in the upper part of the pile of garments, and detection means arranged in the vicinity of the extraction means to detect that the upper part of the garment Pile of garments has reached a hitch height. The detection means comprise a detection sensor, a rod arranged horizontally and transversely, and a contact element fixed to said rod and configured to activate the detection sensor when the top of the garment stack displaces the rod.
In order for the dispensing machine to function properly, it is essential that the detection of the top of the pile of garments has reached the hitch height is correct. The pile of garments forms an irregular upper surface and therefore it is difficult to achieve a good detection. If the detection is not carried out properly, the process of extracting the garment located in the part is difficult

top of the pile of garments.
In the known state of the art, the detection is carried out at a specific point in the pile of garments. Taking into account the irregularities of the upper part of the pile of garments, this point can be arranged above or below the rest of the upper surface, thus obtaining a poor quality detection.
In the detection means of the invention, such as the activation of the detection sensor is carried out by means of the rod that is arranged transverse to the garment stack, the entire transverse surface of the garment stack is taken into account and not just a specific point , whereby the detection means of the invention allow a good detection of the hitch height.
A second aspect of the invention relates to a method of dispensing garments applied in a dispensing machine as described above.
These and other advantages and features of the invention will become apparent in view of the figures and the detailed description of the invention.

DETAILED EXHIBITION OF THE INVENTION
Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the garment dispensing machine 1 according to the invention.
The garment dispensing machine 1 comprises a plurality of compartments 2, each of said compartments 2 having a stack of garments to be dispensed. Preferably in each compartment 2 there is a pile of garments of specific characteristics. For example, a compartment 2 may comprise pants of size S, while the adjacent compartment 2 may comprise pants of size M, etc. In other possible embodiments, in which clothing of a single type is to be dispensed, for example towels of a single size, the garment dispensing machine may comprise a single compartment.
In this embodiment the dispensing machine 1 comprises two upper compartments 2 and two lower compartments 2, each of which is identified with a letter (A,

B, C and D) respective. The dispensing machine 1 comprises a garment identification and selection unit, not shown in the figures, through which a user can identify and choose the garments he wishes to obtain. The dispensing machine 1 further comprises an upper exit door 10 for the upper compartments 2, and a lower exit door 11 for the lower compartments 2. The upper output door 10 gives access to the upper output tray 100, while the lower output door 11 gives access to the lower output tray 110. The dispensing machine 1 comprises a structure 12 in which the compartments 2 are arranged. and a door 13 pivotally coupled to said structure 12, the upper and lower exit doors 10 and 11 being arranged in said door 13. Figure 2 shows the dispensing machine 1 with the door 13 open, so that the doors can be accessed. different compartments 2, for example to replace garments in said compartments 2.
Each compartment 2 comprises a mobile tray 3 on which the garment stack corresponding to said compartment 2 is arranged. The mobile tray 3 is adapted to move vertically in the respective compartment 2. Preferably, each compartment 2 comprises a drive that rotates a spindle arranged vertically on said compartment 2, and a nut fixed to the mobile tray 3, the nut being coupled to said spindle, so that by turning the spindle the mobile tray 3 is move vertically. In other embodiments, the vertical movement of the mobile tray can be done in other ways.
Each compartment 2 also comprises extraction means arranged on the mobile tray 3 adapted to extract the garment arranged in the upper part of the pile of garments.
In addition, each compartment 2 comprises detection means arranged in the vicinity of the extraction means to detect that the top of the pile of garments has reached a hitch height. The detection means comprise a detection sensor 60, a rod 61 arranged horizontally and transversely, and a contact element 62 fixed to said rod 61 and configured to activate the detection sensor 60 when the top of the pile of garments displaces the rod 61.
Thus, when a garment has to be dispensed, the mobile tray 3 is raised

until the detection means detect that the top of the pile of garments has reached the hitch height. Once this hooking height has been reached, the mobile tray 3 is stopped, since at this height the extraction means are in a position to hook the garment arranged in the upper part of the pile of garments and thus be able to dispense said garment.
In order for the dispensing machine 1 to function properly, it is essential that the detection of the top of the pile of garments has reached the hitch height is correct. The pile of garments forms an irregular upper surface and therefore it is difficult to achieve a good detection. If the detection is not carried out properly, the process of extracting the garment located at the top of the pile of garments is difficult.
In the known state of the art, the detection is carried out at a specific point in the pile of garments. Taking into account the irregularities of the upper part of the pile of garments, said point can be arranged above or below the rest of the upper surface, thus obtaining a poor quality detection. Thus, if the point of the garment stack arranged next to the detector is elevated with respect to the rest of the upper surface of the garment stack, the mobile tray will stop too low and the extraction means may not be able to properly engage the garment to be extracted and therefore the extraction cannot be performed. On the contrary, if the point of the pile of garments arranged next to the detector is below the rest of the upper surface of the pile of garments, the mobile tray will rise too high, being dangerous for the dispensing machine since could damage it, and also if the pile of garments is very tight against the means of extraction it may be that at the time of extracting the garment located on the top of the garment pile, not only the garment located in the top but also the next garment.
In the detection means of the invention, such as the activation of the detection sensor 60 is carried out by means of the rod 61 that is arranged transverse to the garment stack, the entire transverse surface of the garment stack is taken into account and not only a specific point, whereby the detection means of the invention allow a good detection of the hitch height.

In this embodiment the contact element 62 is a contact plate fixed to the corresponding compartment 2. A first end of the contact element 62 is fixed to the rod 61, while the opposite end is coupled to the compartment 2 by an elastic element 63. In addition, in this embodiment the contact element 62 is fixed to the corresponding compartment 2 pivotally. .
In this embodiment a first end of the rod 61 is fixed to the contact element 62, the opposite end of the rod 61 being fixed to a fixing plate 64. The contact element 62 and the fixing plate 64 are joined together by means of a connecting plate 65. In addition, like the contact element 62, the fixing plate 64 is pivotally fixed to the compartment 2. In this embodiment the contact element 62, the fixing plate 64 and the connecting plate 65 form a single piece. The contact element 62 comprises a contact surface 620 which is arranged next to the detection sensor 60, so that when the rod 61 is displaced, said contact surface 620 activates the detection sensor 60.
In this embodiment the connecting plate 65 is coupled to the corresponding compartment 2 by elastic elements 63, preferably springs. In this way the elastic elements 63 offer some resistance to the displacement of the rod 61, so that it is ensured that the detection sensor 60 is not activated with the minimum contact of the rod 61 with the upper surface of the pile of garments but that it is necessary that the contact be sufficient to overcome the force exerted by the elastic elements 63.
In this embodiment, the extraction means comprise a horizontally movable platform 4. In Figure 3 the platform 4 is observed when it is disposed inside the compartment 2, while in Figure 4 the platform 4 displaced with respect to the compartment 2 is observed. The extraction means also comprise fastening means 5 attached to said platform 4, the corresponding garment being removed by horizontal displacement of the platform 4 once said garment is secured by the clamping means 5.
In this embodiment each compartment 2 comprises two side walls 20 facing each other, and a rear wall and a front door 21 parallel to each other and perpendicular to the side walls 20, thus forming a cavity in which the

respective mobile tray 3. Each compartment 2 further comprises a lower wall 22 and an upper wall parallel to each other. Preferably, each compartment comprises a sensor arranged in the vicinity of the lower wall 22 to ensure that the mobile tray 3 does not move below the lower limit and therefore does not damage the lower wall 22 of the compartment 2.
In this embodiment, the front door 21 comprises a dispensing detector 210, preferably a photocell, to detect that the garment is dispensed. In this way, it can be detected if there is a problem if a garment is ordered to be dispensed from a compartment 2 but the dispensing detector 210 does not detect that the dispensing has been performed. The front door 21 is pivotally coupled to one of the side walls 20, thus opening the front door 21 allows access to the interior of the compartment 2 in order to arrange new garments on the mobile tray 3.
In this embodiment each side wall 20 comprises a guide 200, the platform 4 being housed horizontally movable in said guides 200.
In this embodiment, the fastening means 5 are pliers each clamp comprising a first part 50 rotatably coupled to the platform 4 and a second part 51 rotatably coupled by a spring 510 to said platform 4.
As seen in Figure 7, the fastening means of this embodiment comprise three tweezers. The first parts 50 of said clamps are fixed to a first axis of rotation 52, while the second parts 51 of said clamps are fixed to a second axis of rotation 53 through a respective spring 510. In this embodiment the second part 51 of each clamp and the respective spring 510 form a single piece. The first and second axis of rotation 52 and 53 are coupled to a drive, and their ends are fixed rotatably to the platform 4. The fact that the second part 51 of each clamp is coupled to the second axis of rotation 53 by a spring 510 , allows the tweezers to adapt better to the different thicknesses of the garments to be dispensed.
In this embodiment the movable platform 4 comprises a base 40 and a structure 41 extending vertically from said base 40. The structure 41 comprises two

side walls 410 and 411, a rear wall 412 and a front wall. The detection sensor 60 is arranged in one of the side walls 410, the contact element 62 being pivotally fixed to said side wall 410. The fixing plate 64 is pivotally fixed to the opposite side wall 411, while the connecting plate 65 is coupled to the rear wall 412 by the elastic means 63. The end of the contact element 62 and the end of the fixing plate 64 that are attached to the rod 61, cross the base 40 through a respective hole. The ends of the first and second axis of rotation 52 and 53 are fixed rotatably to the side walls 410 and 411.
In other possible embodiments, another type of extraction means known to the person skilled in the art could be used, for example sprockets. With this type of extraction means it would not be necessary to use a horizontally movable platform since the rotation of the sprockets would achieve the horizontal displacement of the corresponding garment.
Next, the method of dispensing garments applied in a clothes dispensing machine according to this embodiment is described.
Preferably, the user identifies himself, for example by means of a card or by entering a code, and chooses the garment he wishes to obtain.
Once the machine is ordered to dispense a particular garment, the method of dispensing garments is as explained below.
The method of dispensing garments comprises a first stage in which the pile of garments moves vertically until the garment located at the top of the pile of clothes reaches a hitch height. That is, the mobile tray 3 is raised until the top of the pile of garments reaches the hitch height and therefore the rod 61 is displaced, so that the contact element 62 activates the detection sensor 60. A Once the hitch height is reached, the mobile tray 3 stops.
The method of dispensing garments comprises a second stage in which the garment of clothes arranged on top of the pile of garments is hooked, is
that is, the tweezers hook the garment located at the top of the pile of garments.
Next, the method of dispensing garments comprises a third stage in which the pile of clothes descends, that is, the mobile tray 3 descends, so that the hooked garment is separated from the rest of the pile of garments, thus avoiding that the following garments are also dragged when the garment is removed. The more the mobile tray 3 is lowered, the less risk there will be to drag the following garments but the dispensing process will be slower.
10 Finally, the method of dispensing garments comprises a fourth stage in which the garment of clothing engaged moves horizontally until it is arranged next to the exit, that is to say platform 4 moves horizontally until the garment engaged It is arranged in line with the corresponding output tray 100 and 110. Once this position is reached, the tweezers are opened, so that the garment is directed to the corresponding exit tray 100 and 110 by gravity. Once the clamps are open, the platform 4 can go back to its position inside the corresponding compartment 2, so that the dispensing machine 1 will be ready to dispense the next garment.
